"The best part about coming to UCO was finding my life long best friends
and a home away from home. I wouldn't trade this for anything."

"Freshmen Advice: Don't procrastinate."

"Never sacrifice your morals or better judgement to make someone else happy.
Friendships come and go, but the only person that you will always have around, is you.
Always do what you know is right."

"Freshmen advice: Good friends are hard to come by, be patient."

"Everyone says there is no 'I' in team. With this team that is more than true.
There are no individuals on this team. We work together like we are one person."

"Freshmen, if you don't prepare to plan, you plan to fail."

"College is not about books, it is about life."

"No one ever said that they should have slept more in college.
Stay up late and make the most of every moment."

"The most memorable people in life are the friends who
loved you when you weren't loveable"

"This isn't just a sport or a hobby, it's a lifestyle."

"I really don't have anything to say... but my favorite movie quote is
'Where'd you get those clothes, the toilet store?'"

"If I could go back four years ago and give myself any advice, I would tell
myself to break up with my boyfriend at the time. Very rarely do high school
relationships last through college, and honestly very rarely should high school
relationships even start in the first place."

"I try to meet as many people as I can, and smile at every person I come
into contact with. Each person has a unique story and each story is worth hearing."

"Ugh. Finals"

"There is nothing like being on this field looking to your left and then to your
right, seeing your brothers and knowing it's time"

"All this money spent to get a degree in kinesiology, all these hours spent in the library, all these tests I've taken, and I am never going to use it. I just want to go to seminary."

"Life shouldn't be so serious"

“The biggest difference with sitting volleyball is it’s so much faster than regular volleyball. You are on the ground and have to constantly move your hands instead of your feet”

"For a few months I was homeless. Not only was I homeless, I was homeless with a baby. Now my son is 15 months old, and I am constantly reminded to live each day as it comes. Worry is not a necessity. I make sure I have enough money to make it through the week, and next week I'll worry about when it gets here"

"My favorite life motto is 'don't mistake my kindness for weakness'. I am a very nice person, but I also can hold my own and don't put up with people's crap. My ex boyfriend hit me one day after being together for over a year. I hit him back and he got mad and tried to lock me in his house. I left and haven't seen him since. Going through that made me so much stronger as a person, and helped me realize I want to be a counselor for girls that go through the same thing."

"Got involved with slack lining about a year ago through yoga. We call ourselves the 'yoga slackers'. It is so good for me because it helps me find my balance. When you find your balance it helps you to just slow down and focus on the present moment, not worrying about the future or regretting the past. I really hope to one day be in a circus. After I get my degree from UCO I want to go to a circus school in Canada."

"All I need today is a little bit of coffee and a whole lot of Jesus"

"I drink a cup of coffee first thing in the morning everyday. I could not imagine starting my day off without coffee. One time, I went camping at the Grand Canyon and I drove somewhere just so I could get coffee to start my day off right."

"Did you know that today is 'National Coffee Day'? You can go to Dunkin Donuts for free coffee. I'd say today is a great day."

"Group projects... I'm so over them. I'm not the type of person to be the first one to volunteer to lead the group, but sometimes no one else steps up and I have to do it. I just want to be done with college and all of these projects."

"She was the first person I met my freshman year. I knew from the day I saw her that I would love her. It has been three years now, and I've never even gotten up the strength to tell her. But I make sure that I walk her to class everyday. How do you get a girl to know you like her?"

"His name is Adam. He is better company than my real boyfriend. And I tend to spend more time with him."

"If I could go back and give myself advice before college I would tell myself it is okay not to have everything figured out. I thought I needed to go as far away from Oklahoma as I could, so I started my college journey out of state, then after a semester realized it wasn't the right fit for me. I came back to Oklahoma and it took me awhile to figure out where I wanted to go from there. I eventually ended up at UCO. I remember taking a basic Intro to Mass Communications class and I was hooked immediately. I had finally found a field I was interested in; but I still had some figuring out to do. I started out thinking that I wanted to be a reporter, then through an internship I was introduced to social media and began learning about online branding. The internship lead to a position on staff with the company. Even though my career path has changed yet again, everything has really come full circle for me and I will be graduating this December. Going from not knowing where life would take me to having a job in my career field before even graduating is a big change. It would have been a lot easier if I would have known this my freshman year but everything happens for a reason. I have  learned to appreciate the journey."

Purpose

I started this blog because I am passionate about people. I think that the most interesting people, those who are worth knowing, tend to go unnoticed in the crowds of people who will spend their entire lives trying to be known, but have nothing to be known for. I do not want people to look at UCO and have this stereotype of one type of person that attends this university. There is so much diversity on this campus and it is my goal to find it, embrace it, encourage it, and share it.
